Objective: By the end of the lesson students will be able to follow school-wide PBIS Bathroom Procedures.
"Today we will continue learning about always demonstrating respect, effort, and pride at ECMS in the bathroom. Demonstrating respect always means keeping hands, feet, and objects to yourself and no horseplay. Demonstrating effort always means getting in, taking care of your business, and then getting out of the bathroom, and reporting any unsafe or unsanitary conditions immediately. Demonstrating pride always means using facilities correctly and turning off the water”
Skill: When we are in the cafeteria, we need to be respectful of others. We will discuss ways to behave in the cafeteria that are respectful. (Entering, line up, no pushing, select what you want, be polite to staff and peers)
Introduction: Explain we are going to be discussing appropriate cafeteria behavior and the cafeteria rules. Have the students create a circle map of appropriate and inappropriate cafeteria behavior. Create one large circle map as a class using only appropriate behavior.
Teacher Model: Walk them through the cafeteria and explain the rules as you go. Demonstrate the correct and incorrect behavior at this time. Ask them to identify the correct ways by talking to a neighbor.
Review: Have students discuss appropriate and inappropriate behavior that they observed in the cafeteria. As a group, validate behaviors that were brainstormed earlier. Add additional behaviors that were discovered through the lesson.
